We are currently looking for a full-time Estimator to support the estimating and preconstruction efforts in our corporate office in Altamonte Springs. The Estimator will work hand in hand with Senior Preconstruction managers to review project and pricing information in order to compile competitive bids for Window Treatments on commercial projects in the healthcare, multifamily, hospitality, education and general commercial markets. This opportunity is ideal for recent college graduates or junior professionals who wish to enhance their career with a firm dedicated to growth.

The Estimator will be responsible for coordinating multiple streams of information on multiple projects at one time. The Estimator will directly perform many of the essential functions of the preconstruction department, which may include but are not limited to:

  • Review Invitations to Bid for relevant scope and information
  • Set up and categorize project files
  • Review project documents including drawings and specifications
  • Perform quantity takeoff’s and identification of scope
  • Create and develop labor and material take-offs
  • Seek competitive pricing from vendors
  • Determine pricing, both bid and budget estimates
  • Assemble bids and create rough and firm estimates based on project deliverables
  • Manage alternates, bulletins, addenda and change order
  • Maintain current and upcoming bid list
  • Create and obtain clarifications for RFI's.
  • Presentation of estimates to clients
  • Turn over job to construction operations team
  • Perform other duties as required to achieve the goals of the Preconstruction Department.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Preconstruction Team

The Estimator should possess the following knowledge, skill and abilities:

  • Strong math skills;
  • Be proficient and able to work with computer software programs used in preconstruction;
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access), prior use of On Screen Takeoff, or Bluebeam a plus;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Excellent problem solving skills;
  • Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities ;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and fit in with company core values;
  • Ability to professionally operate in a fast-paced environment maintained by a company in a positive, controlled growth mode;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done;
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in construction, architecture or engineering is preferred
    General knowledge of the construction industry
  • Strong communication skills
  • 1-2 years of commercial construction experience and prior estimating experience preferred.

Project Manager

Job Functions and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform material takeoffs when required
  • Create and manage submittals for materials specified.
  • Create and maintain a project schedule of values
  • Coordinate schedules with the General Contractor
  • Order materials and schedule installation for your projects.
  • Resolve problems that emerge in the preconstruction and construction processes.
  • Drive the work-in-place billing for your jobs
  • Control project costs and schedule
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Ensure that quality construction standards and proper construction techniques are implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Attend preconstruction and construction progress meetings.
  • Provide pro-active and engaged communication to ensure customer satisfaction.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Ability to understand commercial construction contracts
  • Ability to think holistically, to see the “big picture” and plan accordingly.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Typical Physical and Mental Demands:

  • The project manager must be able to balance multiple and competing priorities, move about construction sites safely, cope with the strong personalities associated with the construction industry, and perform professionally while under pressure.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • About 30 percent of the project manager’s time is spent in the field, interfacing with our General Contractor customers, trouble-shooting issues and providing guidance for installation crews.
