Window Interiors Uses Local Resources to Complete Neptune Residence Halls at the University of Central Florida

Altamonte Springs, Fla. - (December 3, 2013) – Window Interiors, an industry-leading window treatment solutions company, finished the installation of more than 900 vertical shades in the new University of Central Florida Neptune Residence Halls using local resources and labor. As a graduate of the Pilot Program of Grow FL, Window Interiors managed to incorporate production from UCF’s own backyard.

With most construction materials being produced in other countries, Window Interiors has made it a part of their mission to use local resources and materials made in the USA as often as possible.

“As a business owner it has been my focus to work for and with local businesses and support entrepreneurship every chance we get. With the help of businesses in the community we saved in transportation and packaging costs while also expediting time,” said Sandra Saft, President of Window Interiors. “We were able to use Universal Window Coverings, Inc., located right behind the University on Science Drive, for the Sunteca tracks.”

Window Interiors worked under contract of Jack Jennings & Sons, a locally owned and managed construction company in the Central Florida area.  “Jack Jennings & Son is an outstanding partner,” noted Saft. “We have worked together with the firm on a number of UCF housing projects and it is always a pleasure.”

The 665 bed facility is made up of three housing buildings for freshman students and a fourth administration building that supports the Neptune Complex. The job required the installation of vertical blinds in the study rooms and bedrooms. The residence halls opened for students in August.

“Our partnership with Universal Window Coverings, Inc. is what made this project run so smoothly,” said Kelly Garcia, project manager at Window Interiors. “With an accelerated production time we were able to complete Neptune within the deadline because of the help of our suppliers and our workers willingness to work overtime.”
